In the autumn of 2016 ITV brought to vivid life the dramatic, tragic and fairytale story of Victoria, starring Jenna Coleman, Rufus Sewell and Tom Hughes, and now you can explore the place where she was born and brought up on this new and exciting Omega London break.
There is literally a wealth of Victoriana at Kensington Palace including toys and dolls the Princess had as a little girl, the simple white wedding dress she wore when she married Albert, the great love of her life, plus paintings by her favourite artists and excerpts from journals and drawings in her own hand.
But that's only one part of what there is to see. You won't want to miss the King's Gallery, unchanged since 1727 and with a still–working wind dial, the King's Staircase with William Kent's famous fresco portraying a cast of colourful characters (including himself), and the State Apartments comprising the Presence Chamber, the Privy Chamber, the Cupola Room and the King's Drawing Room.
Because William III and Mary II were crowned joint monarchs in 1689, the Queen had her equivalent apartments including a Queen's Staircase, Queen's Gallery, Queen's Closet (where Queen Anne fell out with Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough, booting her out of court in 1711 and causing a political earthquake), and also the Queen's Bedroom, Queen's Drawing Room, and Queen's Dining Room (William and Mary ate here, reportedly living on fish and beer).
And not to overlook the Palace Gardens, which cover 242 acres of what was once part of Henry VIII's Hyde Park deer–hunting ground before it was transformed by Queens Mary, Anne and Caroline into what we see today, including the Serpentine boating lake and Long Water, the Broad Walk and pond, the 'Nanny Walk' (because all the nannies would walk along it with their prams) and the Sunken Garden.
Book now for this unique chance to see the home of the Stuarts, the Georgians, the Hanovers, the Saxe–Coburgs and the Windsors, as well as Princess Diana and now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, plus time for shopping or sightseeing in central London, return coach travel and 4 star hotel with dinner and English breakfast.
